Sport, with its neutrality, universality and inclusivity, serves as a massive force in cultivating a culture of peace and communal well-being through open dialogue. Since its establishment in 2007, Peace and Sport has been a global advocate for harnessing the unique power of sport to strengthen social connections, empower young individuals, and nurture harmonious coexistence within communities.
Based on its expertise and the feedback received from field programs leaders worldwide over the past years, Peace and Sport calls on international decision-makers to develop the intentional use of sport as a tool for transmitting the values of peace. Capacity building, pedagogical support, program monitoring and evaluation, an integrated approach and the accompaniment of athletes social engagements are key elements to strengthen the development of sport as a tool for peace.
In this Olympic year of 2024, marked by a resurgence of international conflicts and growing polarization, the 14th Peace and Sport International Forum will recall how sports offers a distinctive and universal platform where the principles of peace and collaboration prevail.
