Mutaz Essa Barshim is a Qatari athlete specializing in the high jump. In 2010, he made his breakthrough with impressive performances in the junior category. At 18, he became Qatar's record-holder and Asian Champion.
The son of a Qatari father and a Sudanese mother, he attended Doha's Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence. Over the years, he established himself as an exceptional athlete, achieving the second-highest jump in world history and claiming the world title in 2017.
He became a Champion for Peace to use his fame to support the Peace through Sport movement and to share the values that sport has instilled in him.
